Coral Bleaching

£90.00

An original acrylic painting that evolved to draw attention to climate change. This was inspired by a walk along a deserted beach and noticing the fragile clumps of kelp washed up and how they appeared on the shoreline.

These impressions gave way to deeper thoughts about the fragility of our landscape and in particular, the damage inflicted on coral reefs that is affecting biodiversity. Coral bleaching is a prominent issue caused by global warming and this painting hopes to convey the bleaching aspects by ghostly kelp forms that are present. The vivid turquoise complemented the oranges and gave it a real seascape feel. This unique painting comes in a complimentary grey wooden frame.
